Michigan actor Jeff Daniels’ new Chelsea restaurant is opening next month.
JD’s Stage Bistro, a short walk from the Daniels’ hometown Purple Rose Theatre, announced a lineup of musicians with performances starting on Wednesday, July 29, and a grand opening celebration scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 26 through Saturday, Aug. 29.
According to the Friday, June 19, social media announcement, 14 bands and artists will play at JD’s Stage Bistro ahead of the grand opening celebration. Bands range from Ben Daniels Band — led by Daniels’ son — to artists featured on “The Voice” Laith Al-Saadi and Morgan Myles, as well as local band Kendron. According to the post, JD’s Stage Bistro “can’t wait to welcome you to JDs Stage Bistro this July,” though tickets and reservations are not yet available.
Spokespeople for JD’s Stage Bistro did not immediately respond to further questions from the Free Press.
Daniels announced the restaurant’s opening in November 2025 at 117½ S. Main St., underneath the Chelsea Bakery and neighboring 115-119 Main St. businesses. It’s across the street from The Common Grill. The restaurant’s Main Street entrance is shared with the bakery, 117 Main St., and a second entrance faces the Purple Rose Theatre.
The restaurant will seat 100 people and feature a wood-fired pizza oven, cocktail bar, patio seating and private event spaces catering to small- to mid-sized gatherings. The JD’s Stage Bistro Facebook page has shared photos of a “crisp Caesar salad” and “Marj’s Tomato Pudding,” a classic recipe from Daniels’s mom reimagined.
JD’s Stage Bistro plans to announce when tickets and reservations are first available via its newsletter, available by sign up on jdsstagebistro.com.
