The injury bug bit the Los Angeles Rams during Tuesday’s practice. After Emmanuel Forbes Jr. exited the field with an injury, Kamren Curl had to be taken to the sideline with an ailment of his own.
Curl limped off with a trainer before being taken to the medical tent. He was walking gingerly but was able to put pressure on his right leg, which appeared to be the one that was injured based on videos from camp.
After being examined, Curl was reportedly taken to the locker room on a cart. Trainers seemed to be looking at his lower right leg. Sean McVay should provide an update on the severity after practice, but hopefully it’s nothing serious.
Here’s a video of Curl walking off the field, though there is no clip of the play where he got injured so it’s unclear what exactly occurred.
Curl played just about every snap when healthy last season, which was his first year with the Rams. He’s in line to be an integral part of the defense once again this year, a player who can have a big impact in the secondary as a tackler and leader of the defensive backs.
The Rams do have good depth at the position with Kam Kinchens, Jaylen McCollough and Quentin Lake, but Curl is a key player for them.
Update (6:13 p.m. PT): McVay told reporters that Curl seemed to get his ankle “stepped on” during practice and head trainer Reggie Scott “seemed to feel like there could be some positive things” with regards to his injury.
In other words, it doesn’t sound like a serious injury at this point, but McVay will have further updates later on.
