It’s been an exciting few months for the Peterson family. Linebacker Darryl Peterson III signed with the Los Angeles Rams as an undrafted rookie back in April, getting his first opportunity in the NFL after playing at Wisconsin.
Less than two months later, his brother, Darryn Peterson, was drafted second overall by the Utah Jazz in the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night.
According to Front Office Sports, they’re the first pair of brothers to enter the NFL and NBA in the same year. So the Rams’ rookie linebacker was part of sports history, along with his remarkably talented brother.
Darryl played his college football at Wisconsin, lining up for the Badgers for the last five seasons. He wasn’t drafted but he’ll get a chance to make the Rams’ roster as an undrafted rookie at a position that could use some depth.
Darryn was a star for the Kansas Jayhawks as a freshman last season, averaging 20.2 points, 1.6 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
