Derion Kendrick wasn’t a free agent for very long after being cut by the Los Angeles Rams on Friday. The fourth-year cornerback is on an NFL roster again, and it’s the one he was just released from.
On Tuesday, the Rams announced they have signed Kendrick, a surprising move considering he was waived only four days ago. The reason? Probably his contract.
The Rams saved $3.4 million in cap space by releasing Kendrick, so it’s likely they’ve brought him back on a much cheaper deal than the one he was set to play on in 2025. The terms of his new contract have not been released yet.
Kendrick started 18 games for the Rams from 2022 to 2023 but he missed the entire 2024 season due to a torn ACL suffered last summer. He’ll now be competing for snaps in a cornerback room that features Darious Williams, Ahkello Witherspoon, Cobie Durant and Emmanuel Forbes.
