Rams finalizing trade for Myles Garrett, giving up Jared Verse and more

The Los Angeles Rams are finalizing a trade to acquire Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns. In the deal, the Rams will give up Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and additional compensation, per reports.

The Rams drafted Verse in the first round in 2024 but now move on from the former Florida State standout. Garrett is a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and just set the single-season sacks record last season with 23 for the Browns.

The Browns adjusted Garrett’s contract this offseason to make him easier to trade, and now they are, in fact, moving off the NFL’s top defensive player. They will acquire Verse, however, to help replace the former No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.

The Rams have always been aggressive and with Matthew Stafford nearing the end of his career, they see this as the perfect time to go all-in for another ring. Garrett is the best defender in football, and he now joins a defensive front that includes Byron Young, Kobie Turner, Braden Fiske and Poona Ford.

Cleveland, meanwhile, continues to rebuild, which Verse will certainly help with. He was entering his third season in the NFL and as a former first-round pick, his contract comes with a fifth-year option, giving the Browns control through 2028.
