The Los Angeles Rams aren’t letting their top free agent of 2026 get away. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Rams and safety Kam Curl have agreed to a three-year deal worth $36 million.
The contract comes with a max value of $39 million, a massive pay raise for the star safety. His previous contract with the Rams was for two years and a total of $9 million. Now he’ll be making $12 million per year.
Curl was one of the Rams’ most important defenders last season, recording a career-best 122 tackles with two sacks, two interceptions, five passes defensed and a forced fumble. In the playoffs, he added another 27 tackles, two QB hits and a game-saving interception against the Bears in overtime of the divisional round.
The Rams are being aggressive on defense this offseason, agreeing to trade for Trent McDuffie and now re-signing Curl to a three-year deal. Cobie Durant, Ahkello Witherspoon and Roger McCreary are all pending free agents but it wouldn’t be a surprise if they brought back at least one of them.
The secondary was a weakness in 2025, particularly at cornerback. But with McDuffie’s arrival and Curl’s return, the Rams should have a better defensive backfield in 2026.
