Prediction and betting odds for Lakers vs. Spurs

The Los Angeles Lakers host the San Antonio Spurs on Tuesday, and if you’re looking to do some last-minute betting research, you’re in luck! We’ll give you the latest point spread, money line odds and over/under number, as well as the information you’ll need to make the smartest bet.

The Lakers will look to get back on track after falling 119-110 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Monday. They have still won eight of their last 12 games and remain in fifth place in the Western Conference with a 32-20 record, and they have an opportunity to move up in the standings. They’re tied with the fourth-place Houston Rockets and are just half a game behind the third-place Denver Nuggets.

Lakers vs Spurs injury reports

Spurs: Lindy Waters III (left knee hyperextension) is out.

Lakers: No injury report has been submitted yet, but Luka Doncic (left hamstring strain) and Adou Thiero (right MCL sprain) missed their previous game.

Advice and Prediction:

When one talks about the Spurs, one must start with Victor Wembanyama, who continues to march forward on a path that could make him the best basketball player in the world within a few years. He’s averaging 23.9 points, 11.1 rebounds and a league-high 2.7 blocks in 29 minutes a game, and he’s doing a lot more damage inside the free throw line extended than he did in his first two seasons.

But the Spurs have plenty of other weapons. Eight of their players average double figures in scoring, and they have an outstanding backcourt made up of starters De’Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, as well as reserves Devin Vassell and Dylan Harper.

San Antonio is seventh in points per game and third in defensive rating, and it is second in defensive rebounding percentage. It can also do damage in transition, as evidenced by the fact that it is eighth in fast-break points per game.

On Dec. 10, San Antonio trounced the Lakers 132-119 in the semifinal round of the Emirates NBA Cup. In that game, the team penetrated down the middle and dished the basketball off to open 3-point shooters, especially in the open court, almost at will. That is what the Lakers should expect and prepare for in Tuesday’s game.

Assuming Luka Doncic misses another game due to a hamstring strain, the Lakers simply won’t have enough firepower to compete hard with the Spurs, no matter how on-point their defense happens to be.

Prediction: Spurs 124, Lakers 111
