Strong winds, snow and rain are expected to impact portions of Southern California over the weekend.
In the High Desert, strong westerly winds with gusts between 25 and 55 mph are expected late Saturday, April 25, into Sunday, April 26, according to the National Weather Service.
Mountain passes, including the Cajon Pass, could see winds up to 65 mph, weather experts warned.
Wind advisories
The NWS has issued wind advisories from 2 p.m. Saturday through 11 a.m. Sunday in several areas of the High Desert.
Victorville, Hesperia, Adelanto, Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley could see southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph, with gusts between 45 and 55 mph. Winds of up to 60 mph were predicted for other desert slopes and mountain passes.
Yucca Valley, Twentynine Palms, Barstow, Morongo Valley, Daggett and Fort Irwin were expected to see southwest winds between 25 and 35 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph.
These gusty winds may affect unsecured objects, according to the weather agency. Tree limbs could be knocked down, potentially causing power outages.
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. It was advised for those in affected areas to secure outdoor objects and use extra caution while driving.
Mountain snow
From the coast to the mountains, light showers and snow are expected on Saturday and Sunday.
Big Bear and Wrightwood could receive a mixture of rain and snow on Saturday, while the chance of light powder increases overnight into Sunday.
A total of about 1.5 inches of snow was expected in the mountains over both days.
Warmer days ahead
Weekend temperatures will remain in the 60s in the Victor Valley, the 60s and 70s in Barstow, and the 40s and 50s in the mountains.
Clear skies and warmer temperatures were predicted to return on Tuesday.
