Paul McCartney’s upcoming concert at Acrisure Arena sold out almost immediately after the general on-sale kicked off at 10 a.m. on Friday, July 18.
The former Beatle’s Sept. 29 show in Palm Desert — which will kick off his new Got Back tour — saw tickets priced as high as $1,659 during the presale on Tuesday, July 15.
As fans waited in Ticketmaster’s queue on Friday, there was a message below the status bar that said remaining tickets after the July 15 presale were priced between $282.85 and $4,196.08. A representative from Acrisure Arena said there were over 74,000 people in the Ticketmaster queue, but did not provide a timeframe for how fast the show sold out.
He did, however, confirm that the concert is “among the fastest to sell out” in Acrisure history.
How much do Paul McCartney tickets cost?
Many fans on Acrisure’s Instagram page expressed frustration at the high ticket prices for the Got Back tour stop.
Instagram user Jenny Desanto said “The only tickets I’m seeing are over $1,600? Is this accurate?” and followed up with a second comment on Acrisure’s McCartney post saying “The fact that a large amount of tickets are already being resold for 3x the amount is shameful.”
On the same post, Terry Kraszewski commented “Terrible sale. So disappointed,” and fellow commenter José Luna echoed her sentiment, adding “”Worst sale I’ve ever been a part of, I hope there’s more dates.”
Although many fans called for Acrisure to add a second date, there has been no announcement about an additional tour stop in the desert.
What are the most popular Acrisure Arena concerts?
Since Acrisure Arena opened its doors in December 2022, there have been many memorable concerts to come through the Coachella Valley such as KISS, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and more. But what artists have sold out the arena in record time?
Here is a list provided by Acrisure Arena of its 10 previous fastest-selling concerts, in order by date.
Grupo Firme: Dec. 16, 2022
Grupo Firme was the first Latin show and second concert to play at Acrisure Arena on December 16, 2022. The band returned for another concert in 2024.
Harry Styles: Jan. 31 and Feb. 1, 2023
Harry Styles closed the North American leg of his 2023 Love On Tour at Acrisure Arena with two concerts on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1. When the singer announced during the Jan. 31 concert that it was his 29th birthday, he was met with a symphony of screams.
Eagles: Feb. 24 and 25, 2023, and Jan. 16, 2024
It’s no surprise that the Eagles have performed at Acrisure Arena three times. The band’s guitarist, Joe Walsh, was present during the groundbreaking for the arena, alongside longtime Eagles manager and Oak View Group co-founder Irving Azoff, on June 2, 2021, at the Classic Club in Thousand Palms. The legendary rock band sold out their three performances on Feb. 24 and 25, 2023, and Jan. 16, 2024, in record time.
John Mayer: April 6, 2023
Rock and blues guitarist John Mayer performed at the arena on April 6, 2023 as part of his “John Mayer Solo” tour, which featured a setlist of acoustic guitar work with additional performances on piano and electric guitar.
Paramore: July 15, 2023
Paramore performed at Acrisure Arena on July 15, 2023 as part of its North American tour with Foals and The Linda Lindas.
Luis Miguel: Sept. 30, 2023
Luis Miguel is one of the most successful artists in Latin American music history, so it was no surprise when all 65 concerts of his 2023 tour sold out, which included his Sept. 30, 2023 concert. He returned for another concert on April 25, 2024.
Olivia Rodrigo: Feb. 23, 2024
Grammy Award winner Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her “Guts” world tour in Palm Desert on Feb. 23, 2024, which followed the release of her sophomore album of the same name. It felt like a homecoming of sorts, because even though she isn’t a Coachella Valley native, the desert arena is an hour’s drive away from her native Temecula.
