Wide receiver Keenan Allen cemented his legacy on Sunday night by becoming the Chargers’ all-time leader in receptions. Allen surpassed Hall of Fame tight end Antonio Gates’ previous franchise record of 955 career catches during the team’s 25-10 victory over the Steelers.
Gates, who was in attendance, congratulated him, stating there was nobody else he would want to break his record but Allen.
The achievement came on a seven-yard pop pass late in the fourth quarter.
“They wanted me to catch like a smoke route, and I was like, ‘Just give me a little soft toss in front of the quarterback would be good,'” Allen said after the game.
Here is how social media reacted to Allen achieving the outstanding feat.
