USC’s Ja’Kobi Lane is a great receiver prospect who is projected to go later in the 2026 NFL draft. However, he can become just as good as the receivers drafted in the first round. He has the talent and the size to be a weapon in any offense. Whichever quarterback and coach get their hands on him, they are getting a major threat on the outside.
In a recent 5-round mock draft, NFL Network analyst Chad Reuter believes Ja’Kobi Lane will be a great weapon for Baker Mayfield. Chad Reuter has the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selecting Lane at pick 116 in the 4th round:
The Buccaneers drafted Emeka Egbuka last season in the first round, and he was great as a rookie, albeit he lost steam at the end of the season. The Buccaneers have a great room full of young receivers and a veteran weapon like Chris Godwin. Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers offense are at their best with a big body weapon dominating on the outside.
They lost Mike Evans, and getting Ja’Kobi Lane would be a solid replacement. Lane is 6 feet 4 and 200 pounds. Lane can make the big catches Evans could, but also can make some of the best highlight reel catches you could see. The Bucs would be a great landing spot for Lane.
