Man attacked and carjacked in High Desert, vehicle recovered in Hesperia

Authorities are looking for four attackers who they say beat and carjacked a driver in the High Desert early Sunday, Sept. 28.

The crime unfolded about 2 a.m. after the victim had parked a car at an unknown location in either Victorville or Hesperia, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department spokeswoman Mara Rodriguez. The victim was uncertain of the exact site of the attack.

“(The) victim was assaulted by four unknown subjects,” she said. It was not clear whether any weapons were used in the attack.

Officials said the victim was taken to a hospital for treatment. His condition was unclear.

Following the assault, the attackers fled in the victim’s vehicle, according to Rodriguez.

The car was later found abandoned near Seventh Avenue and Mauna Loa Street in Hesperia, but there was no sign of the carjackers.

No suspect description was available.
