The Thousand Oaks High girls team and the Camarillo High boys team won titles while several individuals won multiple events and set meet records at the Coastal Canyon League Swimming Championships on Thursday, April 30, at the Rancho Simi Community Pool.
Abi Kerns won the 200 freestyle in 2 minutes, 2.15 seconds, and Zara Dragoi won the 100 freestyle in 56.05 to lead Thousand Oaks, which finished first in the girls standings with 350 points. Dragoi, Kira Jones, Bella Fike and Kerns teamed up to win the 400 freestyle relay title in 3:50.66.
Ruby Williams won the 200 IM in 2:25.34 and Riley Boothe won the 50 freestyle in 25.95 for Camarillo, which finished second with 341 points.
Caroline Bi set a meet record in winning the 100 butterfly in 58.90 and also won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.65 for Oak Park, which took third with 181 points. Bi, Jennie Wang, Noemie Dysart and Katya Fedorchak won the 200 IM relay in 1:56.73 and the 200 freestyle relay in 1:43.63.
Emily Mark was a double champion, winning the 500 freestyle in 5:24.69 and the 100 backstroke in 1:03.90 for Moorpark, which placed fourth with 86 points.
Royal was fifth with 67 points.
Camarillo used a team effort, with several second-place finishes, to win the boys title with 308 points.
Noah Takano broke the school record to finish second in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.46 and took second in the 100 backstroke (54.18). Andy Beahan finished second in the 200 IM (2:02.47) and 500 freestyle (4:49.17). Tom Singleton placed second in the 200 freestyle (1:46.91). The 200 IM relay team of Takano, Nathan Yuan, Sina Marvian and Charlie Cash finished second in 1:41.90. The 200 freestyle relay team of Jimmy Davis, Tyler Coates, Charlie Cash and Michael Hyson finished second in 1:30.71.
Royal had two double champions and won two relay titles to place second with 297 points. Erik Lindskog set a meet record in the 100 butterfly with a time of 51.00 and won the 100 breaststroke in 1:02.30. Matthieu Fresco won the 200 IM in 1:58.65 and the 100 backstroke in 52.70. Levi Palmer, Hayden Burg, Lindskog and Fresco had a meet-record time of 3:12.38 to win the 400 freestyle relay. Colton Castellano, Fresco, Lindskog and Asher Mulford won the 200 IM relay in 1:39.86.
Elliott Drottar set two meet records in winning the 50 freestyle in 20.58 and the 100 freestyle in 46.05 and Pablo Ingrum set a meet record in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:46.30 and won the 200 freestyle in 1:42.68 for Oak Park, which finished third with 236 points.
Curren Mealiffe, Beckett Dowdle, Aiden MacFarlane and Luca Bazerkanian won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:29.49 for Thousand Oaks, which placed fourth with 196 points.
Moorpark was fifth with 18 points.
Marmonte League
Westlake swept the team titles for the first time since 2021 at the Marmonte League Swimming Championships on Wednesday, April 29, at Westlake High.
The Warriors boys team won two relay races and three individual titles to finish with 375 points. Westlake also won team titles in 2021, 2023 and 2024. Newbury Park finished second with 368, followed by Oaks Christian (357), Calabasas (337), and Agoura (98).
Noah Loo won the 100 freestyle in 47.07, Rick Liu won the 100 breaststroke in 58.87, and Andy Melekhov won the 200 IM in 2:02.11 for the Warriors. The team of Liu, Melekhov, Tyson Kato and Peyton Marien won the 200 IM relay in 1:39.90. Loo, Troy Odenath, Kato and Liu won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:20.15.
Oaks Christian won four individual events and a relay title. Oliver Hitch was a double champion, winning the 100 butterfly in 50.88 and the 100 backstroke in 54.19. Wyatt Williamson won the 200 freestyle in 1:48.02 and Hunter Loo won the 500 freestyle in 5:01.60. Hitch, Loo, Williamson and Darion Wang won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:27.68.
Newbury Park’s Zack Bolte won the 50 freestyle in 21.02.
The Warriors girls team won the title with 421 points, showing its depth to secure a team championship for the first time since 2021.
Unna Yuvavanich finished second in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.80 and the 100 backstroke in 1:01.69. Kylie Melekhov took second in the 200 IM in 2:18.30 and the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.00. Yuvavanich, Melekhov, Zoe Fairley and Janie Wilkes finished second in the 200 IM relay in 1:53.49.
Oaks Christian won three relay titles and three individual titles to finish second in the girls standings with 391 points. Kaileilini Harvey was a double champion, winning the 100 butterfly in 59.97 and 500 freestyle in 5:15.80. Mia Fabros won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.21 and Siena Doble won the 200 freestyle in 1:55.33. Nicole O’Neill, Fabros, Harvey and Doble won the 200 IM relay in 1:51.74. Alex Stoddard, O’Neill, Maryam Maamoun and Fabros won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:42.20. Jackie Ahn, Maamoun, Harvey and Doble won the 400 freestyle relay in 3:44.00.
Sofija Gelev took home two freestyle titles, winning the 50 in 24.29 and 100 in 53.27 for Agoura, which finished third overall with 355 points.
Newbury Park senior Megan Wang finished her remarkable league career by winning two titles for the fourth straight season. The Star’s reigning Girls Swimmer of the Year won the 200 IM in 2:07.94 and 100 backstroke in 54.67 for the Panthers, who finished fourth overall with 332 points.
Channel League
Pacifica High’s Abigail Tamayo won two individual titles and Buena’s Jack Pointner repeated as a league champion to lead the way for local swimmers at the Channel League Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday, April 30, at Dos Pueblos High.
San Marcos won the girls title with 572 points. Dos Pueblos was second with 466, followed by Buena (207.5), Ventura (192), Santa Barbara (153), Oxnard (133.5), Pacifica (132), and Rio Mesa (57).
Dos Pueblos won the boys title with 496 points. San Marcos was second with 468, followed by Buena (324), Ventura (313), Santa Barbara (154), Oxnard (95), Pacifica (92), and Rio Mesa (83).
Tamayo, a senior, won the girls 50 freestyle in 23.59 and the 100 freestyle in 52.07. She broke her own school records in both events.
Pointner, a senior, won the boys 200 freestyle in 1:44.22 for his second straight league title in the event.
Guile Lima of Ventura won the 1-meter diving competition with 419.80 points.
Citrus Coast League
Nordhoff senior Melina Seider finished her league career with two more titles at the Citrus Coast League Swimming Championships on Thursday, April 30, at Nordhoff High.
Seider won the girls 200 freestyle with a time of 1:56.42 and the 500 freestyle in 5:08.71 to give her seven league championships.
Nordhoff junior Flynn Van Auker won the boys 100 backstroke title with a time of 52.19.
Carpinteria won the boys and girls team titles.
