King Miller primed to remain lead USC running back after great 2025

One big strong suit for the USC Trojans is their running back room, which is returning two high-caliber backs. King Miller headlines the group, coming off a big season as a freshman walk-on. This year, he will have to share carries with a back who just as talented. There is optimism that it will not get in the way of Miller having another productive season.

In a recent article, Lorenzo Reyna projects running back King Miller to break out in fall camp. Here is what he had to say:

“USC reloaded at running back through the top-ranked recruiting class in landing four-star duo Shahn Alston and Deshonne Redeaux.

Make no mistake about it, though. King Miller looks ready to capitalize on his surprising 2025 season.

Miller flipped from walk-on to leading rusher; racking up four 100-yard games (all against Big Ten opponents) and scoring eight touchdowns in the process. Now he’ll aim to be the official lead rusher this fall even in a more competitive running back room.

Miller’s downhill anticipation and burst into the open hole handed Riley a much-needed gamebreaker in the backfield.”

The Trojans’ passing attack was even more lethal with a running back like King Miller, who was able to create explosive plays on the ground. Miller can also get involved in the passing game. With the magic Miller created last season, it is only fitting that Lincoln Riley puts him in a position to take it up a notch. A thunder and lightning combo of Waymond Jordan and Miller will be best for everyone involved except for opposing defenses.
