Kevin Love moved to Utah Jazz as throw-in by Heat to acquire Norman Powell

Kevin Love has become a recognizable face in the NBA over the past 15 years, with his basketball journey likely to end in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame when he decides to hang up the sneakers. Before his retirement, is Love’s final stop going to be in Salt Lake City? The Utah Jazz acquired Love in a three-team deal on Monday when Utah shipped out forward John Collins to receive Love, fellow UCLA Bruin alum Kyle Anderson, and a second round pick. The 36-year old Love played in just 23 games last season with the Miami Heat, where he averaged a career-low 5.3 points per game and 4.1 rebounds.

Love’s initial reaction on X didn’t make it seem like the 17-year vet was thrilled to join a rebuilding Jazz franchise.

“Never thought I’d be a math problem. Welcome to the NBA.” Love tweeted Monday morning.

For those familiar with Love on social media, he loves to joke around about the happenings of the league and while he might be joking a bit in his post, the humor stems from the truth of the situation.

Love and his $4.1 salary was needed for the Heat’s acquisition of Norman Powell and Love was moved to make it happen, the five-time all-star, NBA champion and Olympic gold medal winner did become a math problem but that’s life in the NBA.

Regardless of how Love’s career officially ends, UCLA fans will remember him starring at Pauley Pavilion, Minnesota fans will remember for giving the franchise any relevance during a low-point and Cavalier fans will remember his contributions on their 2016 championship team.
