A court has approved a temporary restraining sought by the the Hesperia Recreation & Park District against Board Member Kelly Gregg.
According to San Bernardino County Superior Court records, the petition was filed by Hesperia Recreation & Park District on behalf of District General Manager Robert Hernandez, the protected party in the case. The temporary order was granted on May 15.
The protective order safeguards district employees by prohibiting Gregg from harassing, threatening, stalking, contacting, or entering the workplaces of the protected persons, district representatives stated online.
It further requires Gregg to stay away from the protected persons, their homes, workplaces and vehicles. The order remains in effect until the court hearing, which has not yet been set. District personnel say they remain committed to providing a safe work environment for all employees at this time.
The Daily Press has reached out to both Gregg and Hernandez for comment.
Previous misconduct
Previously, Gregg was chastised by the Hesperia Parks and Recreation Board, which unanimously voted to formally censure him for misconduct in December 2025. He was removed from all board committees, officer positions, liaison roles and district-authorized travel through Dec. 31, 2026, and required to complete various trainings in ethics and harassment.
The park district announced the Workplace Violence Restraining Order publicly on May 21 via social media, which has prompted Hesperia residents to share their experiences with Gregg.
Hesperia resident and citizen journalist Naynay Nevarez commented that she isn’t surprised at the restraining order.
“Ever since I reported on Kelly Gregg, I have had threats, intimidation, and more. I’ve reported on other folks in this desert and never faced the pushback as much as I did with reporting on the Greggs.”
Others defended Gregg and allege he is being targeted because he questions the district’s spending.
Christopher Scaletta said he is glad he stood behind Gregg when he was employed by the parks district. “He’s speaking his truth and exposing things that many people were either too afraid to say or simply ignored,” the former employee commented online.
Residents debated whether Gregg has run into trouble on his own accord or on account of district corruption.
“He wasn’t questioning expenses,” Hesperia resident Jaime Figueroa wrote online. “To my understanding, he kept harassing general managers from doing their job and the city has been sued multiple times from him demanding kickbacks from local businesses. And when they refuse, he starts trying to shut the local businesses down.”
