Brewers bringing City Connect mural celebration to West Allis

The Milwaukee Brewers and Bars & Recreation are unveiling a new City Connect-inspired mural in West Allis ‒ and they’re inviting the public to celebrate.

According to a joint news release from the organizations, the unveiling for Michael Cerda’s mural titled “The Launch” will take place Friday, May 22, at 11:30 a.m. at Slingshot Bar, 6325 W. National Ave.

Cerda, along with the Milwaukee Brewers, West Allis Mayor Dan Devine and Bars & Recreation CEO Marla Poytinger, will debut the first City Connect-inspired mural as part of the Wisco Pop-Up Series, a statewide initiative extending the City Connect story into communities across Wisconsin.

Cerda’s mural embraces the signature sunset gradients and base blue colors featured in the recently launched City Connect ‘Wisco Way’ uniforms.

Following the press conference, Slingshot Bar will host a ‘Sling & Slice’ event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., where guests can receive 60 minutes of slingshot activities on the Jungle Junkyard Range, a slice of pizza and unlimited soda or lemonade refills for $19.95 per person.

Brewers mascots Bernie Brewer and Barrelman are also expected to join the event. The Brewers will distribute ticket vouchers, giveaways and custom Brewers pull tabs for guests.

Who is Michael Cerda?

Cerda, a Milwaukee native and owner of Cerda Design Co., specializes in sign painting and design for local businesses and large organizations.

He previously painted two murals for the Brewers, including the “El Paletero” mural on the side of Heavy Hitters in Milwaukee, 15 S. Third St., and the Barrelman and Milwaukee script mural across from American Family Field, 1 Brewers Way.
