This summer, free movies will hit outdoor screens throughout Ventura County.
Film groups, cities and others will show movies for audiences watching in grassy parks and from the sand at local beaches. The list includes family friendly films that start in June and run through September.
Showings are scheduled from Ojai to Simi Valley, with many of the movies beginning around dusk. Check out the links below to find a place near you, the best place to park and whether snacks will be available.
Then, grab a blanket and some popcorn and head to these local spots to watch free movies this summer. Here’s where to go and what is playing.
Moorpark
Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit in the grass at Arroyo Vista Park, 4550 Tierra Rejada Road. Gates open an hour before showtime and movies begin at dusk. More information: moorparkca.gov/movies.
Oak Park
Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District will show a June movie in Oak Canyon Community Park, 5600 Hollytree Drive. The film starts at dusk. More information: rsrpd.org/recreation/events under summer events.
June 19: “The Greatest Showman”
Ojai
The Ojai Film Society will hold its outdoor film series at the Libbey Bowl, 210 S. Signal St. Get more information and RSVP at ojaifilmsociety.org.
Oxnard
Movies start at dusk on Fridays in Oxnard parks. More information: oxnard.gov/events.
Port Hueneme
Bring a blanket or chair and grab a spot on the sand or in the grass for the city’s free movie nights. More information: huenemebeachfestival.org/1389/2026-Movies-in-the-Park.
Santa Paula
Bring blankets and lawn chairs and experience a movie night under the stars. Movies will start around dusk. More information: santapaula.recdesk.com/Community/Calendar.
Simi Valley
Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District will show an August movie outdoors at Rancho Madera Community Park, 556 Lake Park Drive.
Activities start at 6:30 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk. More information: rsrpd.org/recreation/events under summer events.
Bonus: On July 11, the district will show “Rango” at Rancho Pool, 1765 Royal Ave. Admission: $7 per person. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk.
Thousand Oaks
Free movies will start at sundown at Thousand Oaks Community Park, 2525 Moorpark Road. Grab a lawn chair, blanket and a picnic to watch. More information can be found in the summer program guide at crpd.org/program-registration.
Ventura
See an outdoor movie seaside at the the harbor this summer. The free movies start around sunset on the Ventura Harbor Village main lawn off Spinnaker Drive. More information: venturaharborvillage.com.
