Police announced the reopening at 12:16 p.m. Monday. It had been closed since early Saturday afternoon.

The closure came amid heavy rain that fell on the Coachella Valley throughout the weekend, with moisture coming from an atmospheric river that swamped much of Southern California.

Police also closed North Indian Canyon Drive and East Vista Chino at the wash on Saturday. Vista Chino reopened Sunday morning, while a stretch of Indian Canyon Drive remained closed Monday afternoon.
