The Palm Springs area will get strong winds and a break from the heat on Monday, May 4 before temperatures rise to familiar triple digits by the weekend.
A weather system moving over the Coachella Valley will bring winds from Sunday afternoon through around Tuesday, said National Weather Service Meteorologist Adam Roser. He said wind gusts will be 20 to 25 miles per hour at their peak around Palm Springs but some areas, especially further east, could get gusts around 30 to 35 mph. Monday will be the windiest.
“With the winds coming up, we’re gonna cool things off,” Roser said.
The National Weather Service’s forecast for Monday is mostly cloudy and around the high 70 degrees. Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny and see less wind, with a high near the mid 70s. Both are set to be around 60 degrees at their coolest.
Wednesday is when it boils again, with a high near 90. The temperature highs climb from there — Thursday near 100, Friday near 105 and Saturday near 105.
Nights will warm up, too. The forecast’s coolest daily temperatures are in the low 70s on Wednesday, mid 70s on Thursday and late 70s on Friday.
“Little temperature rollercoaster for you all out there,” Roser said.
