Find out which California cities are getting a Sam's Club in 2026

Sam’s Club is opening six new stores in 2026, including two in the Golden State.

The new Sam’s Club locations will open in the California cities of Lathrop and Visalia, as well as four other locations in Texas and Tennessee. The expansion is consistent with Sam’s Club’s parent company, Walmart Inc.’s, nationwide growth strategy announced earlier in 2025 in which the company committed to opening about 15 new Sam’s Clubs per year.

Steven Zapata, Sam’s Club spokesperson, told USA TODAY that the company cannot provide further specifics, only that the stores will likely open in 2026.

“Because of where we are in the construction process, we can’t provide specifics on timing,” Zapata said in a statement to USA TODAY.

Sam’s Club recently announced extended hours on Sundays for most clubs, extending the store’s previous hours of 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sundays to match the store’s regular hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

How many Sam’s Clubs are in California?

There are 30 Sam’s Clubs in California, and the Lathrop and Visalia stores will bring the total up to 32. Gardena is the only city in California to have two Sam’s Clubs.

The current closest Sam’s Club to Lathrop is nearly 44 miles away in Concord, and the current closest Sam’s Club to Visalia is over 45 miles away in Fresno.

What is Sam’s Club?

The membership-based warehouse club is a subsidiary of Walmart that emphasizes buying products in bulk. Similar to other warehouse stores like Costco, Sam’s Club sells groceries, home goods, electronics, health and beauty products, clothes and offers pharmacy and auto services.
