Drake London of Atlanta Falcons is 3rd-highest-paid receiver in NFL

Drake London is one of the most underrated receivers in the NFL. Finally, that paid off for him in a big way. The Atlanta Falcons took care of the former USC Trojan receiver, giving him a big payday. Drake London became the third-highest-paid receiver in the NFL with his new 4-year, $141 million extension. His deal is worth up to 150 million, and the Falcons gave him 100 million guaranteed to ice the cake.

Drake London’s talent is clear, and if he had better quarterback play, he would be viewed as a top-5 receiver. Nonetheless, the Falcons made sure they got him paid first over their other young, talented players because of his great value to the team. Consensus is that London isn’t a top 5 receiver, but the Falcons did not buy into consensus; they went on their own evaluation.

The hope is that this season will be different and the Falcons will get better quarterback play. There is a competition going on between Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa. Whichever quarterback wins the job, they will be throwing the football a lot to Drake London. That is each quarterback’s direct path to success and the direct reason why paying London was a priority for the Falcons.

There is no need for London to go out and prove himself this season with this big payday. It is a reassuring feeling that his franchise has his back, and they believe he is a foundation for the future. That will give him all the confidence and momentum to have a big season.
