North and south bound lanes of Deschutes Road reopened after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon after firefighters stopped spread of a cluster of six small fires that scorched a total of 1.7 acres.
The blazes, called the Dersch Fire, started just before 2 p.m., on both sides of Deschutes, roughly 1 mile north of the Dersch Road intersection according to Watch Duty firefighters.
That intersection borders Historic Hawes Farm.
The biggest of the fires was less than an acre in size by the time California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection firefighters stopped its growth at 2:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
