A popular home goods store that stocks everything from Japanese snacks and stationery to the latest Labubu craze is coming to Salinas.
Daiso, the family-owned Japanese retailer with over 6,000 stores around the world will open at Harden Ranch Plaza in the fall. The store will occupy the space formerly occupied by Tilly’s.
This will be the first Daiso location on the Central Coast. The nearest Daiso store is in Gilroy, according to the company.
The 50-year-old company has over 100,000 products, spanning numerous categories, including Japanese inspired home decor, stationery, gifts, food and kitchen gadgets.
“California based Daiso customers have shown us through our online business and social media their desire for us to have more stores within the state, influencing our immediate growth strategy in this region,” said John Clarke, Chief Development Officer for Daiso USA in a November press release when they opened up a location in Fontana.
Daiso currently operates 165 units in eight states with more states opening in 2025.
More California locations planned to open in 2025
Nine new Daiso locations, including the one in Salinas are planned for California this year, according to the Daiso website.
