After practicing against each other for the last two weeks, the Los Angeles Rams will finally get a new look on Tuesday. They’re hosting the Dallas Cowboys for a joint practice at their Woodland Hills facility, and in doing so, they’re welcoming back a familiar face.
Cobie Durant, who left the Rams to sign with the Cowboys in free agency, will face his former team for the first time. And he can’t wait. He told Eric Williams of FOX Sports that he’s “overly excited” to finally go up against the Rams, having covered their receivers in practice for the last four years.
“Overly excited,” he said. “I went up against that offense for four years. High-powered offense, got Matthew Stafford, running backs in the backfield, wide receiving corps. It’s a sight to see when you’re in practice and you’re going up against it, but now I’m here with the Dallas Cowboys, running a new defense, new guys, new guys on defense. Now you actually get to see what the guy next to you is really about, going up against another offense.”
It doesn’t sound like Durant’s excitement stems from ill will towards the Rams for letting him go. He genuinely just wants to face another offense and see what the Cowboys defense looks like.
He’ll be tested, too, just as the Rams’ cornerbacks will be against Dallas’ receivers. Durant and DaRon Bland will go up against Puka Nacua and Davante Adams, while the Rams’ newest corners, Trent McDuffie and Jaylen Watson, will be tasked with covering George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb.
It should be a fun practice for both teams in Woodland Hills on Tuesday.
