Could former UCLA Bruin Donovan Dent be headed to Gonzaga?

UCLA men’s basketball starting point guard last year, Donovan Dent, is seeking an additional year of eligibility, but he might be headed to Gonzaga rather than back to the UCLA Bruins.

Dent was a star for UCLA over their 2025 campaign, but after spending his three previous seasons with New Mexico, the Bruins point guard had seemingly called it quits. However, with the recent update of him seeking another year of eligibility, a team that he is consistently being linked to online is Gonzaga.

Dent has not decided publicly where he would like to play if he is granted his request of eligibility, but Dent becoming a Bulldog would enormously bolster their roster as Sean Paul of Field of 68 Daily stated.

The Bruins star started 34 of the Bruins 35 games and averaged 34.4 minutes last season and shot 40.8 percent from the field for 13.3 points and a career-high in assists with 7.6.

Meanwhile, Bulldogs freshman point guard Mario Saint-Supery started just 17 games and averaged 23 minutes while shooting 41 percent from the field for 8.6 points and 3.8 assists.

Dent of course has the veteran savvy on his side with three years of starting experience, but despite that Saint-Supery decided to leave the Bulldogs to play for Valencia, which means Gonzaga could use some of Dent’s caliber.

Why wouldn’t Dent head back to the Bruins? Well, UCLA has already begun to put together their roster and has filled 13 of their 15-man roster, which means space is limited and they could be looking elsewhere. In support of that, 247Sports reports that the Bruins will not likely be in the business of pursuing Dent if he is eligible.

No matter what, Dent’s first step is to fight for his fifth-year of eligibility before any team can make any push for him to be on their roster.
