The Golden State Warriors are still in the race for LeBron James, but few around the league believe they are frontrunners. NBA insider Marc Spears recently weighed in on Golden State’s chances to land the 23-year veteran, saying, “I’m hearing today that the Warriors internally feel like they’re a dark horse at this point. That LeBron James is probably going out East.”
Where in the Eastern Conference he’ll sign has yet to be revealed, as Philadelphia, Miami and Cleveland are all suitors. That said, Golden State appears to lead the three Western Conference teams in pursuit, ahead of both Minnesota and Denver.
Sam Amick of The Athletic shared his insight as well, saying, “I’ve had Miami tell me it’s Cleveland. I’ve had Cleveland tell me it’s Miami. And the Warriors have seemingly had a lot of pessimism recently.”
The four-time NBA champion has still yet to reveal a timetable for his decision.
