The AFC has been notable for having the best of the best quarterbacks, beginning with Patrick Mahomes. The NFC has generally been known for having the most competitive teams. Former Trojan quarterback Caleb Williams is on his way to changing that narrative with the Chicago Bears.
A recent tweet looked at analyst Nick Wright’s thoughts on where Caleb Williams stands among the top quarterbacks in his conference. Here is what he said:
“Caleb will enter next year as the best Quarterback in the NFC. There are things he can do that only two other guys in the league, (Patrick) Mahomes and Josh (Allen), can do. That throw he made, 4th and 8, season on the line, gliding to his left, without his feet set, I say this without hyperbole: It’s one of the five best throws in the last decade in the NFL. The things he can do cannot be taught.”
Wright noted how many times Caleb Williams led the Bears back from fourth-quarter deficits and double-digit deficits. Caleb did things a lot of other NFL quarterbacks failed to do in 2025. Now is the next step: Being so great in the first three quarters that fourth-quarter comebacks aren’t needed.
Caleb Williams took control of the NFC North last season and helped take back a rivalry the Bears have been on the wrong side of for far too long against the Green Bay Packers. Caleb Williams’ talent alone puts him in conversations with the best of the best. Matthew Stafford is the best quarterback in the NFC right now after his MVP, but it looks like Caleb Williams is just waiting for his turn. One more big season could expedite that.
