Social media was sent into a frenzy earlier this week when fans learned that the Golden State Warriors were targeting both Anthony Davis and LeBron James this summer. A former championship-winning duo on the Los Angeles Lakers, James and Davis would be quite the supporting cast around two-time MVP award winner Stephen Curry.
However, NBA insider Brian Windhorst pumped the brakes on that idea recently, saying, “The people in the league I’m talking to today are giving me the side eye, and they’re going, ‘This is going to end up with Draymond getting a new contract in GS, LeBron getting a new contract in LA, and AD getting a new contract in Washington.'”
Windhorst goes on to speculate that Davis and James could be “creating leverage” to receive strong contracts from both Washington and Los Angeles. That said, he still sees a slight possibility that the two end up together in the Bay Area as members of the Warriors.
