3 High Desert teams crack top 100 of the CIF-SS basketball rankings

The first CIF-Southern Section basketball rankings of 2026 have been released and the High Desert has three teams in the top 100.

Hesperia and Silverado lead the way on the boys side. The Scorpions check in at No. 67 among all boys basketball teams that compete within the CIF-SS. Silverado is just behind at 72nd.

The Hawks pulled off a 54-47 victory over Hesperia last month.

Both squads saw a significant jump in the rankings compared to the initial rankings released on Dec. 30. Hesperia is up nine spots from last week’s rankings, while Silverado shot up 17 spots.

The girls rankings are highlighted by Oak Hills, which saw an 18-spot jump up to No. 28.

The Bulldogs went on a tear to close out 2025 and take a seven-game winning streak into Wednesday night’s Mojave River League opener against Sultana.

This is the second year that the CIF-SS playoff brackets will be determined by a computer rankings system — the Colley Royalty Method.

The CIF-SS rankings will be updated weekly leading up to the playoffs. Here’s a full list of High Desert boys and girls team rankings.
