A man was shot and killed Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 16, in Indio. Detectives were investigating the killing as a homicide, but the Indio Police Department said there was “no known threat” to the community at large.
Officers were dispatched shortly after 1 p.m. in response to a report of shots fired in the 47-000 block of Dove Street. Officers found two related crime scenes, one on Dove Street and another on Bluejay Street, which is located a block away.
On Bluejay Street, officers located a 23-year-old man with gunshot wounds, and first responders immediately attempted life-saving measures. The victim was transported by ambulance to a hospital, where he later died from the injuries.
Police did not immediately identify the victim, nor did they say whether any suspects had been identified or arrested.
