Port Sanilac, MI (July 3rd, 2023) – Local Author Helen Bigelow will talk about her book, Our Heroes Next Door: World War II Memories Revealed by Veterans. Our Heroes Next Door is collection of true memories and stories from veterans of World War II. The book will include tales of the struggle and sacrifices they made to preserve the freedom back at home. Bigelow will discuss the individuals she interviewed for the book and share photos and other details of their stories.
Bigelow is a retired school teacher and counselor from North Branch. Her first WWII book, Coffee Grounds and Potato-Peeling Pancakes, included interviews and stories from survivors of the Holocaust. Both books will be available for purchase at the program.
Join us for her lecture presentation at 2pm in the Historic Church at the Sanilac County Historic Village. There will be a Q&A after the lecture. There may also be the chance of two WWII veterans in attendance…
