This is a recurring feature that highlights adoptable children in Michigan who are looking for permanent, loving homes.
Zackry is a quick-witted 11-year-old in Michigan’s foster care system. While there are thousands of foster youth in Michigan, Zackry is one of nearly 200 who are waiting for an adoptive family.
Zackry loves playing games and being silly. In fact, making others laugh is a favorite pastime. He says just “joking around” is what makes him laugh the most. It’s no wonder that this young guy who loves to make others happy aspires to be a police officer, a paramedic, or a firefighter. These are all careers that require the heart of a helper and a healthy dose of bravery — qualities that Zackry has in spades. “I’m polite, kind, and I care about others,” he says. “I’m also loyal.”
Zackry is engaging and chatty and is looking forward to having a family that will want to hear his tales. Whether it’s how his day at school was or if he needs someone to help lift his spirits back to their normal bubbly heights, Zackry needs a family who will be there for it all. He needs a family who will be there forever. To learn more about Zackry and about adoption from foster care, contact the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange at 800-589-6273 or visit www.mare.org.
The Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange, a program of Judson Center, operates statewide and is dedicated to finding adoptive families for youth in Michigan’s foster care system who are legally free for adoption and do not have an identified family. Our goal is to ensure that every one of these children has the best possible opportunity to find a permanent, loving home with a forever family.
