An Elmira native was killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in the city on June 20.
Elmira police were dispatched to the intersection of Clemens Center Parkway and Division Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash with injuries at around 2:11 p.m. on Saturday.
The driver of the motorcycle, Hunter Squires, 26, of Elmira, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Elmira Police Department. The operator of the car was transported from the scene by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
The driver of the car and several witnesses have been cooperative with the investigation, police said, but the Elmira Police Department is still actively investigating the incident.
The Elmira Police Department is asking anyone with information about the incident to call the department at 607-737-5626 or leave a message on the anonymous tip line at 607-271-HALT.
In addition to Elmira police, Chemung County Sheriff’s Deputies, the Elmira Fire Department and local EMS personnel worked to secure the scene and provide aid to the drivers involved.
