Hollanders are gearing up for celebrations on Independence Day, complete with fireworks, barbecues, sales and parties.
Here’s what lakeshore residents can expect over the long weekend:
Where to find fireworks near Holland on Independence Day
In Kollen Park, various fair foods will be available for purchase from 12-10 p.m. — leading up to fireworks over Lake Macatawa beginning at dusk July 4. The event is free. The Holland American Legion Band will host a concert at the bandshell at 7:30 pm
Redrock Grill will host “RedRockin’ Buffet and Fireworks” from 5-10:30 p.m. with lawn games and firework views July 4. Customers can choose between a limited menu of favorites, including barbecue chicken, ribs, pulled pork, corn on the cob, coleslaw, mac and cheese, potato salad, baked beans, watermelon and assorted desserts. Buffet pricing is $29 for adults, $15 for children (5-12) and free for children under 5. Reserve a table by calling 616-212-2600.
The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting fireworks around 10:15 p.m. at the Allendale Public School K-8 Campus on July 4.
Grand Haven’s firework display will begin around dusk or 10:10 p.m. at the Lynne Sherwood Waterfront Stadium on July 4. The fireworks will coincide with the Musical Fountain.
Saugatuck’s firework display will take place July 5 over Kalamazoo Lake. Suggested places to watch include Coghlin Park, Cook Park, Wicks Park, Mount Baldhead Park, The Barge, The Butler Patio, Coral Gables and The Old Boat House.
Where to find parades near Holland on Independence Day
The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce will host a parade at 10 a.m. July 4 at the Allendale Public School K-8 Campus.
Where to find other events near Holland on Independence Day
Hope Repertory Theatre will host “What the Constitution Means to Me” by Heidi Schreck on July 3 and 5, among other dates. The show runs 7:30-9 p.m. at Jack H. Miller Recital Hall. Tickets are $40 for adults, $30 for seniors and staff, and $20 for students.
Downtown Holland will host “Celebrate and Save” from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. July 4. Wear red, white or blue and save 20% off at least one item at participating shops and restaurants.
The Allendale Area Chamber of Commerce will host a “Party in the Park” at 11 a.m. July 4 in Allendale Township Park. The event will include food vendors, a car show, a dunk tank, face painters, balloon twisters, an airbrush artist, a henna artist, a stilt walker and mime, a petting zoo and live music by Kyle Jennings.
