Warner deliberations paused after juror medical emergency

ADRIAN — Jury deliberations in the homicide trial of Dale Warner were delayed March 6 after a juror experienced an undisclosed medical emergency, prompting the court to recall three alternate jurors.

Warner is accused of murdering his wife, Dee Warner, in April 2021.

Judge Michael Olsaver told attorneys that, because of the uncertainty surrounding the seated juror’s condition, they haven’t yet been released from service. The alternate jurors questioned March 6 will remain available when proceedings resume at 9 a.m. March 10.

The alternates were asked individually whether they’d watched news coverage or discussed the case since being released March 5. All three said they’d seen coverage or had conversations about the case, but stated they could remain fair and impartial.

Olsaver said one of the alternates could be selected at random to join deliberations if the seated juror is unable to continue. After discussions in chambers, court adjourned for the weekend.
