Ryan Josue Rojas has been charged with accosting a minor for immoral purposes after allegedly attempting to abduct an eight-year-old girl May 27 in Brighton Township — according to a statement from the Michigan State Police First District.
Rojas, 24, of Herriman, Utah, has been arraigned in Livingston County’s 53rd District Court. His bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety, with conditions including a GPS tether and no contact with minors.
In a statement posted May 28, police wrote a local father reported his daughter was riding her bicycle when she was approached by a man who appeared to be a traveling salesman with a badge for a pest control company.
The man allegedly asked the girl to come into the woods, where he would give her “a surprise,” before being confronted by her father. The man reportedly fled on a vehicle resembling a Segway.
According to court documents, a probable cause conference is scheduled for 8 a.m. June 9 before Judge Daniel Bain. Rojas’ examination is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. June 16.
