Fresh off arguably its most impressive Olympic win ever, the U.S. women’s hockey team is three wins away from a gold medal.
First, it has to go through a plucky Italian team that won two games in its preliminary round.
Team USA will face Italy on Friday, Feb. 13, in a women’s hockey quarterfinal game at Milano Rho Ice Hockey Arena in Milano. The game is set to start at 3:10 p.m. ET and will be televised on USA Network.

The Italians shocked the hockey world with two wins in the preliminary round, a 4-1 win over France and a 3-2 win over Japan. This is Italy’s second appearance in the Olympic women’s hockey tournament, with the Italians being outscored 32-1 on aggregate in their first appearance at the 2006 Torino games (where they were also the hosts).
The U.S., meanwhile, has looked like the most dominant team in the competition so far, notching four wins by a combined score of 20-1. Team USA’s most recent win came in a 5-0 rout of Canada that was the most lopsided U.S. win in this history of the rivalry.
Though Italy has proved it belongs in the tournament, it is a heavy underdog against Team USA, who is expected to compete for its first gold medal since 2018.
