Trieu: Here are recruiting targets on tap to visit Michigan's spring game

Michigan’s Saturday spring game brings a strong group of recruits to campus.

In terms of visitors most likely to join the class, Buford (Georgia) linebacker Ethan Hauser may top the list. He just visited Michigan on April 9, is returning for this spring game and has an official visit to come back to Michigan again on June 19.

Hauser listed Michigan as his leader following his visit this month. Hauser is a 6-foot-2, 190-pound hybrid defender who projects to continue adding weight and playing in the box in college.

Four-star safety Isala Wily-Ava will be visiting. Washington is the heavy favorite for the 6-foot-2, 193-pound Bellflower (California) St. John Bosco product, and Arizona State is considered the Huskies’ biggest challenger, but Michigan is going to get an opportunity this weekend and then again for an official visit to close the gap. He has said Michigan is in his top three. The Wolverines will host a group of his teammates this weekend as well.

Another long, athletic safety Michigan is battling for is Baltimore St. Frances Academy’s Elijah Butler. Butler is a rangy 6-foot-3, 180-pound prospect with excellent ball skills. Florida and Virginia Tech are two of Michigan’s toughest competitors in the race. This will be his first visit to Michigan.

Salem Hills (Utah) safety Peyton Higginson is yet another high-level recruit at that position coming to campus. Higginson has had a long-running relationship with the staff. BYU and Utah, where much of the staff came from, happen to be two of Higginson’s top schools. The Wolverines are really the lone school in the race that is not based out West, but relationships could carry the day here if he ends up choosing Michigan.

Chicago Mount Carmel four-star cornerback Tavares Harrington is a notable addition to the list. He also can play some safety at 6-foot-2, 190 pounds. Harrington was already at Michigan once this spring for a practice. Ole Miss, Nebraska and Alabama are three of the standout schools right now.

Indianapolis Franklin Central defensive end Jayce Brewer will visit Michigan for the spring game then return for a June official. Michigan is looking to challenge in-state Indiana, the current favorite among recruiting analysts, but also several other Power Four programs for the 6-foot-4, 240-pound Brewer.

Michigan also will have a very strong contingent of underclassmen visiting.IMG Academy’s road-grading offensive lineman Maxx Jones and California-based safety Brandon Nash are both national Top 100 recruits.

Grand Rapids Kenowa Hills running back Lundon Hampton is returning for the spring game. The Wolverines are making a strong push there. He has a June 5 official visit set.

The hope is Belleville wide receiver Tre Britton and Chicago Mount Carmel’s Quentin Burrell will both be back for the spring game. Britton is likely to make it but is still working through a scheduling conflict. Burrell and teammate Marshaun Thornton, a heavily recruited 2028 receiver, are expected to make it. Wide receiver is a position of focus in this class.

Detroit Cass Tech’s heavily recruited 2028 quarterback Donald Tabron II also will be on hand. Tabron is starting to narrow his focus down but is nationally recruited so it is important for Michigan to stay on top of this one.

Dearborn Divine Child quarterback Drew Sheridan and East Kentwood defensive backs Kenneth Harris and Austin Nelson are among the in-state sophomores who will be on campus.
