Humid, stormy weather expected this week in Michigan. Severe weather will hit mid- to southern areas of the state mainly on June 18, officials said.
A low pressure system will move eastward through the Midwest on Wednesday, June 18, according to the National Weather Service.
“A few thunderstorms will be possible early Wednesday. Additional storms will be likely later Wednesday, with severe weather possible. Damaging winds will be the main threat, with large hail possible, and an isolated tornado possible,” the NWS in Grand Rapids said on X.
Thunderstorms may begin as early as tonight, June 16, for southern counties. Statewide, poor conditions will calm down after June 18. Wind gust speeds are expected to hover around 20-22 mph.
“Thunderstorms are possible starting late today. Storm chances will continue through Wednesday when severe storms are possible,” the NWS in northern Indiana said on X. “Highs today and Tuesday will be near 85. Heat indices will reach the upper 80s.”
Residents in the Lower Peninsula are expected to see highs in the upper 80s, with Detroit seeing a high of 88 degrees on June 17. In the Upper Peninsula, temperatures range in the 70s.
