MILAN — Ducks and buddies filled the pool.
The Milan Swim Club and Special Olympics Michigan Washtenaw County Area 20 recently hosted the third annual “Buddy” meet in the Milan High School pool.
Special Olympics athletes from Monroe, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties participated.
One of the highlights of the day was the Chuck-a-Duck fundraiser.
“This year we added 100 ducks for a total of 400 and sold out in about 30 minutes,” said Milan special education teacher Nancy Gill. “Spectators toss their purchased rubber ducks from the stands aiming to make it in the basket in lane 3. The winners chose from a selection of 25 prizes.”
The title sponsor this year was the Knights of Columbus. Many others donated prizes.
“Milan and the surrounding areas are always so generous,” Gill said.
