Prep roundup: Williamston boys, Mason girls win CAAC Red track meet

MASON — Williamston finished with 159.5 points while winning the league meet. Haslett was second with a score of 84.5. Steven Bush won the 100 and 200 and was on the winning 400 relay to lead Williamston. Tommy Pratt (long jump), Max Annis (pole vault) and Raymond Herek (3,200) were the other individual winners for the Hornets.

Haslett’s Cullen Delaney was the champion in the shot put and discus, while St. Johns’ Bryce Pratl won the 110 and 300 hurdles.

GIRLS TRACK

CAAC RED

MASON — Mason captured the title at the league meet, finishing with 154.5 points. St. Johns was the runner-up with 117.5 points. Ruby Petee won the 800 and was second in the 1,600, Amelia Stephens won the 100 hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles and Keren Tayong was the shot put champion and the discus runner-up to lead Mason. The Bulldogs also had Ariel Reemsnyder win the discus.

St. Johns’ Ava Schafer won the 1,600 and 3,200 runs and Haslett’s Christina Dixon was the champion in the 200 and 400.

BASEBALL

MASON 10, HASLETT 1 / MASON 9, HASLETT 8

Ryan Myers picked up the walk-off RBI single to win game two and grabbed the win in game one for the Bulldogs in a CAAC Red sweep over Haslett. Joey Schild and Travis Davis each notched a triple and Colton McCaleb added two RBI for Mason. Braedon McGuire notched four hits and three runs scored and Ayden Smith and Kai Schaefer each chipped in two hits for the Vikings.

WILLIAMSTON 6, ST. JOHNS 3 / WILLIAMSTON 11, ST. JOHNS 6

ST. JOHNS — Brett Palmer struck out 10 in the opener and Kaleb NIelson had two hits and two RB for the Hornets, who rallied with four runs in the seventh inning in their opening win over St. Johns. Hunter VanSickler went 4-for-4 with a triple to lead Williamston in Game 2.

BOYS LACROSSE

HOLT 11, BATTLE CREEK LAKEVIEW 10 (2OT)

R.J. Hicks scored the game-winning goal in double overtime to push the Rams to a nonleague victory over Battle Creek Lakeview. Caden Byrum finished with three goals and three assists, Hicks contributed two goals and an assist, Michael Brookes tacked on two goals and Graham Tripp hauled in 21 saves for Holt.

SOFTBALL

LANSING CATHOLIC 14, LAKEWOOD 3 / LANSING CATHOLIC 12, LAKEWOOD 1

Avery Dunneback had a double, triple and home run and drove in three and Sydney Convery added five hits and three RBI for the Division 3 No. 10-ranked Cougars in their CAAC White doubleheader sweep of Lakewood (3-9 3-5). Zoey Gruber added a home run and three RBI and had a pitching win for Lansing Catholic (14-0, 10-0).

DANSVILLE 10, SARANAC 3 / DANSVILLE 15, SARANAC 5

Laci Neal and Ryker Graf delivered strong pitching performances for the Aggies in their CMAC doubleheader sweep of Saranac. Neal struck out 19 and allowed just one earned run in the opener and contributed offensively with six hits in the two wins. Graf struck out 15 in Game 2 and added two runs and six RBI in the sweep. Bree Delano added five hits, four RBI and six runs for the Aggies.

FOWLERVILLE 15, LANSING 0 / FOWLERVILLE 18, LANSING 2

Brynn Goulding went 3-for-4 with four RBI and three runs to cap the Gladiators’ doubleheader sweep of Lansing. Payton Ryan and Avery Borg each had triples and drove in two in the opening win.

EATON RAPIDS 6, PORTLAND 1 / EATON RAPIDS 11, PORTLAND 7

Kalli Ordiway led the Greyhounds with six hits, a double, a home run, four RBI and the win in game one as Eaton Rapids secured a CAAC White sweep over Portland. Abi Pratt went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI in game one and Taylor Orta tacked on four hits and a double for Eaton Rapids. Molli Milliu notched three hits and a triple and Lilly Thelen added on a double and two runs scored for the Raiders.
