Petoskey-area features on athletes and coaches over the past year

The only constant in life is change.

And, if you haven’t noticed, we’ve taken a little bit of a different approach to sports reporting.

For the fans that have followed us over the years, it likely has been noticed.

That change? It’s actually been more of a shift of focus than anything, but simply put, it’s a larger focus on the athletes and coaches than a regular season game that might be forgotten after a couple weeks.

To tell an individual’s story seems so much bigger than game four of a 20 game season, or whatever the instance.

You’ve probably noticed more athlete features and profiles highlighting many around northern Michigan. They’re stories – for us as writers – that have been far more enjoyable to tell as well. They’re also more interesting to read and, quite frankly, just better stories than the play by play breakdowns of the past.

That shift has also come with asking more from our readers.

It’s taken patience from week to week. We’re highlighting athletes and writing better stories, so the instant game results that went up before, now go up in a different form a day or days later.

We’ve also asked for your support in subscriptions along the way. Reliable, accurate news has never been free by any means. We thank those who have supported our efforts to keep telling the stories of local athletes now and in the future.

If you missed any or just want to revisit, below you’ll find many of the athlete features we’ve told in the Petoskey-area since the spring sports season in northern Michigan. Check back for more to fill the list and enjoy!
