Personnel responded to the residential fire on 160th Avenue, just south of Lake Macatawa, around 6:30 p.m. Upon arrival, responders found “heavy fire conditions” in the garage, with the flames already spreading into the residence.

Four adults, three dogs and one cat were successfully evacuated from the home, with no injuries reported. Two vehicles in the garage and another in the driveway sustained damage, as well as two outbuildings adjacent to the home, and a neighboring residence.

Crews worked for approximately five hours to bring the fire under control, extinguish hot spots and conduct overhaul operations. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
