A Mount Clemens woman convicted of possessing child porn was sentenced last week, according to court records.

Jasmine Ellise Rix was given 60 days in the Macomb County Jail to be followed by five years of probation by a county circuit court judge on Thursday, records said.

The 30-year-old was also ordered to register with the state as a sex offender, court records said. The judge banned Rix from consuming illegal drugs, having any contact with children under the age of 17, including her daughter, without supervision. In addition, she may not possess any sexually stimulating material.

Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said he was disappointed at the lack of prison time in the sentence and his office is “reviewing this matter and will determine our options accordingly.”

“The distribution of child sexually abusive material is not a victimless crime,” Lucido said in a press release. “Every image and video depicts the abuse of a real child, and the continued circulation of that material inflicts ongoing harm on those victims. Each act of sharing these files contributes to the continuing exploitation of children whose abuse is memorialized and repeatedly redistributed.”

Rix’s attorney, Peter Torrice, was not immediately available for comment on Monday.

In March, Rix pleaded no contest to three counts of distributing, promoting, or financing the distribution or promotion of any child sexually abusive material. In Michigan, courts treat no contest pleas the same as guilty pleas.

The crime is punishable by up to four years in prison.

In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dismissed eight charges, including three counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material, a count of possession of child sexually abusive material, and four counts of using a computer to commit a crime.

Aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material is punishable by up to 10 years in prison, and possession of child sexually abusive material carries a penalty of up to four years in prison. Rix also faced three felony counts of using a computer to commit a crime, each punishable by 10 years to 20 years in prison, and using a computer to commit a crime. She was also charged with using a computer to commit a crime, a seven-year felony.

Authorities alleged Rix had child pornography on her computer in February 2025 and shared it.

Detectives with the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office received a tip about Rix from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and began investigating the allegations against her in early March, according to officials.

Police also referred the case to Child Protective Services to investigate the well-being of a child living in the home.

Prosecutors charged Rix in June 2025.

Her case follows others in Michigan involving child pornography.

Last week, a Harrison Township man accused of possessing child sexual abusive material was charged with 20 felony counts.

Last month, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officer from Center Line convicted of distributing child pornography was sentenced to six years in federal prison.

A former doctor from Farmington Hills accused of possessing child porn and making plans to abuse kids, pleaded guilty in May to receiving child pornography.
