The maker of Jeep is recalling more than 1 million of its best-selling models for potential electrical issues that could cause vehicle fires, the company said Monday.
Stellantis NV is asking owners of an estimated 1,076,999 Wranglers and Gladiators to park their vehicles outside and away from buildings and other vehicles while it works on a fix, spokesperson Frank Matyok said in a statement. A solution is expected by July.
Poor electrical connection in the electric hydraulic power steering pump wiring could cause overheating and “in rare circumstances,” vehicle fires, Matyok said.
Matyok said owners of model year 2021-2025 Wranglers and Gladiators made in the United States should have the wiring harnesses and electric hydraulic power steering pumps of their vehicles inspected. Both parts might need to be repaired or replaced.
Matyok said Stellantis found the issue during an internal investigation. He did not immediately respond to a Detroit News question Monday about whether there have been any reports of vehicle fires because of the issue.
The recall is the latest for Stellantis’ money-making SUV brand in the past year.
Late last month, the automaker recalled 419,035 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Grand Cherokee L models for a software error that could delay side air bag deployment in the event of a crash.
An over-the-air software update glitch in October 2025 led to many plug-in hybrid Wrangler 4xe drivers suddenly losing power on the road. A couple of weeks later came a warning that drivers of 320,065 Wrangler and Grand Cherokee 4xes should stop charging and park away from structures due to a potential for battery fires.
Another recall in November 2025 hit owners of both plug-in Jeep models: Sand inside the engine could cause failure and lead to a loss of power or fire.
