Michigan State vs Nebraska game prediction, start time in Week 6

Michigan State football is back in action this week.

The Spartans (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) will be heading to Lincoln, Nebraska, to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-1, 0-1 Big Ten) on Saturday, Oct. 4, at 4 p.m. ET at Memorial Stadium. The Week 6 meetup will feature two teams with identical records looking for their first conference win.

Michigan State had a bye on Saturday, Sept. 27, one week after their 45-31 road loss to the USC Trojans to open up their conference schedule. The Nebraska game, however, presents the Spartans with an opportunity to re-establish themselves as a strong conference opponent.

Here’s what you need to know about Michigan State’s tough road test.

Michigan State prediction vs Nebraska

There are a few reasons to feel good about Michigan State’s chances against the Cornhuskers. For one, the Spartans offense led by junior quarterback Aidan Chiles is clicking and still has room to grow, especially in the run game. For another, the Huskers defense looked vulnerable in their Week 4 loss against Michigan, giving up 286 rushing yards to the Wolverines.

But there’s too much in Nebraska’s favor this week. Like Michigan State, they are also coming off a bye, and the home cooking should give them an edge in what looks to be a bounce-back game in Lincoln. Michigan State’s defense, already filled with holes when fully healthy, may still be dealing with injuries by kickoff even with the extra rest. Chiles and the Spartans offense is going to keep it close, but Nebraska will pull it out in the end. The pick: Nebraska 38, MSU 35.
