Michigan State is listed as a heavy favorite over the Terps in this matchup, but a solid performance will be needed to avoid the upset.

Michigan State comes into this game off a two-game, west coast sweep, which included an impressive double-digit win over Oregon earlier this week. The Spartans are 17-2 overall and 7-1 in Big Ten play entering this matchup.

Unlike the Spartans, Maryland is off to a rough start to the season — sitting at 8-11 overall and 1-7 mark in Big Ten play this year. The Terps have lost five of their last six games, including a near 20-point blowout loss at Illinois earlier this week.

Prediction: Michigan State 80, Maryland 63

Maryland is in play to be one of the worst teams in the Big Ten this year, so this one could get ugly if Michigan State comes out firing right away. That hasn’t been the tendency for Michigan State in most of their recent games, so with that being said, I think this one will be in striking distance until halfway through the second half when eventually the Spartans pull away.
