Pedestrian dies on I-96 after being struck by semitrailer near Webberville

WEBBERVILLE — A man walked into the westbound lanes of Interstate 96 traffic June 15 and was fatally struck by a semitrailer.

Deputies with the Ingham County Sheriff’s Office said in a release they responded to a “semi truck pedestrian crash” around 11:38 a.m. at the M-52 overpass and found “a male subject” dead on the freeway.

Capt. Andrew Daenzer confirmed by email that he was of adult age. But no name, age or hometown was provided for the man.

“The semi truck driver was uninjured and no other motorists are believed to be involved,” the release said.

An investigation continues.
