MADISON – At the end of a four-day voting window, more than 44,000 votes were cast in this week’s ModForce Home Solutions Football Player of the Week poll, a new high mark for the 2025-26 school year.
Up for the honor in Week 8 were five of Lenawee County’s best efforts from the gridiron, and you, the readers of The Daily Telegram were given the chance to speak your mind and name a player of the week.
Well speak you did, loudly, as Madison Trojan WR/DB Derrell Tillman has been voted as the Week 8 ModForce Home Solutions Football Player of the Week for Lenawee County. Tillman won the honor with over 23,000 votes cast, garnering over 52% of the total.
Tillman more than deserved the honor after a breakout game last week. Tillman hauled in a game high 10 catches for 218 yards and three touchdowns, in addition to rushing the ball six times for 83 yards and a touchdown, giving Tillman over 300 yards of total offense and four touchdowns.
Tillman has been a key piece for Madison this season, a team on the cusp of earning a spot in the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) postseason, entering Week 9 with a record of 5-3 and a playoff point ranking of 28 in Division 6, with the top 32 teams earning a playoff spot.
Madison has a tough game coming up Friday at another team fighting for its postseason life. Tecumseh is also 5-3 and ranked 22nd in playoff points in Division 4. Chance Gormley finished in second place in this week’s vote with over 14,000 votes after rushing 25 times for 212 yards while also completing 2 of 3 passes for 34 yards and two touchdowns in Week 8.
Most predictors indicate that both teams are a lock for the MHSAA postseason, meaning a possible home game is up for grabs under the Friday night lights at Tecumseh High School, although a win to end the 2025 regular season would make either team feel much better about their playoff fates.
